Overview

Island Peak also known as Imje Tse is one of the most popular climbing peaks in Nepal. The peak was named as Island peak in 1951 as it appears like an island in a sea of ice when viewed from Dingboche. Later in 1983 it was renamed to Imja Tse but Island Peak remains the popular choice.  The peak is part of the south ridge of Lhotse Shar. The summit ridge offers fine 360 degree views of Makalu, Ama Dablam, Baruntse, Mera Peak (Hongu) and the vast southern flanks of Nuptse and Lhotse.
