Overview

Situated at the elevation of 3210m, Poon Hill is a viewpoint just above the famous Ghorapani village. This village used to be a rest stop in ancient times for traders as they used to feed water to their horses, therefore leading to the nomenclature Ghorapani. The other highlight of this trek is the rich Gurung farming village, Ghandruk. It is also known around the world for its brave people who serve British and Indian armies as “Gurkhas”.

In a short span of time this trek offers the up close view of Annapurna Massif and Dhaulagiri mountain range such as an Annapurna 8,091m, Dhaulagiri 8,127, Annapurna South 7,219 Meter, Machapuchare 6,993 Meter, Himchuli, Annapurna III, Dhampus peak, Dhaulagiri II, and many other tall peaks.

Itinerary

  • Day 1 : Fly to Pokhara & drive to Phedi. Trek to Austrian Camp 2060m ( 4 hours)

  • Day 2 : Trek to Ghandruk 1953m ( 6-7 hours)

  • Day 3 : Trek to Tadapani 2540m ( 5 hours)

  • Day 4 : Trek to Ghorepani 2855m ( 6 hours) - Opportunity to view sunset from the Poon Hill

  • Day 5 : Trek to Tikhedhunga 1495m ( 5 hours) - Opportunity to view sunrise from the Poon Hill

  • Day 6 : End trek at Nayapul and drive back to Pokhara and fly onto Kathmandu ( 3-4 hours)
