Day-by-Day Itinerary
A detailed breakdown of your adventure
Day 1 - 2: Fly to Kathmandu
Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. Team members joining on a "land-only" package will be met at the terminal and transferred directly to our team hotel. Spend these first two days resting from your journey, adjusting to the local time, meeting your guides for a pre-trip briefing, and picking up any last-minute trekking gear.
Day 3: Drive to Ramechhap
We depart Kathmandu around 10:00 AM for a private, scenic drive through the foothills of the Himalayas to Ramechhap. By driving today, we avoid the grueling 2:00 AM wake-up calls typical for same-day flights. We check into the Freedom Resort, offering air-conditioned twin-sharing rooms, a swimming pool, and a spacious terrace to unwind.
Day 4: Fly to Lukla | Trek to Phakding
It is an easy 10-minute walk from our resort to the airport. We take an early morning flight to the famous mountain airstrip at Lukla, the dramatic gateway to the Khumbu. After organizing our gear and packs with our porter team, we begin a gentle, descending trek through traditional Sherpa villages to Phakding.
Day 5: Trek Phakding to Namche Bazaar
Today we cross the threshold into the Sagarmatha National Park. We trace the banks of the Dudh Koshi River, crossing several high suspension bridges, including the famous Hillary Bridge at the confluence of the Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi. From there, we tackle a steady, two-hour climb up 'Namche Hill' to emerge into Namche Bazaar—the bustling, amphitheater-shaped capital of the region.
Day 6 -7: Acclimatization in Namche Bazaar
To guarantee seamless altitude adaptation and avoid high-altitude headaches, our itinerary features a three-night stay in Namche. Over these two days, we will take structured active-rest walks. We will climb to the legendary Everest View Hotel (3,900m) for our first panoramic look at Mt. Everest and Ama Dablam, and explore the traditional twin villages of Khunde and Khumjung to experience authentic Sherpa culture.
Day 8: Trek Namche Bazaar to Thame
Leaving the heavily trafficked classic Everest trail behind, we head west into the stunning, untouched Bhote Koshi Valley. The trail contours high along the pine-forested valley walls, tracking ancient Tibetan trade routes. We arrive in Thame, a storied mountain village, the childhood home of Tenzing Norgay, and home to an incredible 16th-century cliffside monastery.
Day 9: Trek Thame to Marulung
We trek north along the Bhote Koshi River, gradually gaining altitude as the tree line begins to thin into alpine scrub. The landscape becomes starker, quieter, and deeply peaceful. We pass through the small pastoral settlement of Taranga before reaching Marulung, a quiet village nestled in the shadows of the high peaks bordering Tibet.
Day 10: Trek Marulung to Lungden
A intentionally shorter trekking day designed to give your body ample time to acclimatize before crossing the high pass. We make a steady, gentle climb through high-altitude yak pastures and dry stone-walled fields to reach Lungden. Spend the afternoon resting, drinking plenty of water, and preparing your gear for the pass crossing.
Day 11: Lungden over Renjo La Pass to Gokyo Lakes
An epic and rewarding day. We start before dawn, climbing a well-engineered stone path past a series of hidden, frozen lakes. Reaching the prayer-flag-strewn crest of Renjo La Pass (5,360m) reveals what many call the greatest view in the Himalaya: an uninterrupted panorama of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu, sitting right above the vibrant, turquoise Gokyo Lakes. We descend carefully down to the Third Lake and the beautiful shore-side village of Gokyo.
Day 12: Sunrise at Gokyo Ri | Gokyo Valley Exploration
Early morning climb up the steep switchbacks of Gokyo Ri (5,357m) to catch the morning sun striking the summits of four 8,000m peaks simultaneously. The view looking down at the massive Ngozumpa Glacier—the longest glacier in Nepal—is staggering. Spend the afternoon relaxing by the lakeside or walking further up the valley to explore the pristine Fourth and Fifth Gokyo lakes.
Day 13: Trek Gokyo Lakes to Dole
We begin our descent down the spectacular Gokyo Valley. The trail hugs the eastern edge of the valley, passing through the high-altitude settlements of Machhermo and Luza. As we lose elevation, the air grows noticeably thicker and breathing becomes effortless. We arrive at the tree-line village of Dole, surrounded by rhododendron and birch scrub forest.
Day 14- 16: Return Trek to Lukla via Namche Bazaar
We spend three days retracing our steps back down the valley. We make a scenic drop through the forests to the Dudh Koshi River, climb past Mong La, and re-enter Namche Bazaar for a celebratory coffee or pastry. From Namche, we make our final long descent down the valley, crossing the high suspension bridges one last time to arrive back at the Lukla airstrip. Trekkers have the option to skip the final 3-day walk down by flying out from Gokyo via Helicopter directly to Lukla or Kathmandu (must be booked and paid for in advance).
Day 17: Fly Lukla to Ramechhap | Drive to Kathmandu
We board our early morning fixed-wing flight from Lukla back to Ramechhap Airport. Upon arrival, our private transport will be waiting to drive us back through the Nepalese hills and countryside to Kathmandu. Check back into our team hotel for a well-deserved hot shower and clean clothes.
Day 18: At Leisure in Kathmandu
A vital buffer day built into the schedule to safeguard against weather-related flight delays in Lukla. If everything goes according to plan, this serves as a fantastic free day to explore Kathmandu's legendary temples, visit the historic Durbar Squares, or do some souvenir shopping in Thamel.
Day 19: Fly Home
Your Himalayan adventure officially comes to an end today. We provide a scheduled private airport transfer to align perfectly with your international flight home. For "land-only" members, services conclude after checkout.
