A detailed breakdown of your adventure
Day 1 - 2: Fly to Kathmandu
Land at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. Team members joining on a "land-only" package will be met and transferred to the team hotel, where your services begin. Spend your time resting from the long flight, adjusting to the time zone, and doing any last-minute gear checks.
Day 3: Drive to Ramechhap
We leave Kathmandu around 10:00 AM to drive out of the valley toward Ramechhap, avoiding the midnight departures common for same-day flights. We check into the Freedom Resort, which provides functional, comfortable accommodation complete with an air-conditioned twin-sharing room, a swimming pool, and a spacious terrace perfect for dining and relaxing before the trek.
Day 4: Fly to Lukla | Trek to Phakding
It is just a short 10-minute walk from the resort to the airstrip. We catch a scenic, early morning flight to Lukla, the thrilling gateway to the Khumbu region. After meeting our porter team and organizing gear, we begin trekking downhill along a gentle trail toward the river side village of Phakding.
Day 5: Trek Phakding to Namche Bazaar
Today we officially enter the Sagarmatha (Everest) National Park. We track alongside the river and cross a spectacular suspension bridge over the confluence of the Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi rivers. From here, we face a steady, two-hour alpine climb up the famous 'Namche Hill'. At the top sits Namche Bazaar, a prosperous trading town and the historic capital of the Sherpa kingdom.
Day 6 - 7: Acclimatization in Namche Bazaar
While most trekking companies spend only two nights here, we stay for three nights. This extra day drastically improves your altitude adaptation and prevents headaches later on. Over these two days, we will take structured acclimatization walks: one to the iconic Everest View Hotel (3,900m) for your first panoramic views of the peak, and another out west to the traditional village of Thame (3,844m), the childhood home of Tenzing Norgay.
Day 8: Trek Namche Bazaar to Deboche
The well-worn Everest trail contours effortlessly around the edge of the valley wall, high above the roaring Dudh Koshi, offering breathtaking mountain vistas. We drop down to cross the river before making a steep, forested switchback climb up to Tengboche Monastery, the spiritual center of the Khumbu. After viewing the monastery, we make a gentle 20-minute descent to the quieter hamlet of Deboche.
Day 9: Trek Deboche to Dingboche
We trek through lush rhododendron forests up to Pangboche village, which provides an absolutely unparalleled, clear view of the fluted ridges of Ama Dablam. Leaving the last of the tree line behind, the trail transitions into stark alpine shrubbery as we turn into the Imja Valley to reach the beautiful, stone-walled farming village of Dingboche.
Day 10: Acclimatization Day in Dingboche
Our second mandatory acclimatization phase. Today we take a mindful walk over the ridge line to the neighboring valley settlement of Pheriche. Here, you have the option to visit the high-altitude research hospital run by the volunteer doctors of the Himalayan Rescue Association (HRA). Return to Dingboche for a restful evening.
Day 11: Trek Dingboche to Lobuche
We trail back past Pheriche and trace the wide, desolate valley floor toward the small outpost of Dughla. From Dughla, the trail climbs steeply up the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier, passing the moving stone memorials dedicated to lost climbers. A few more hours of gradual climbing over rough terrain brings us to Lobuche.
Day 12: Trek to Everest Base Camp via Gorak Shep
A momentous day. We trek for 3 hours over rough glacial moraine to reach Gorak Shep—the sandy plain that served as the original 1953 British Expedition base camp. We drop our heavy duffel bags here, rest briefly, and push onward for another 1 hour and 40 minutes to the modern Everest Base Camp. If trekking during the bustling spring climbing season, we will visit an active expedition team's camp for lunch. We return to Gorak Shep to sleep.
Day 13: Climb Kala Patthar OR 2nd Base Camp Opportunity | Descend to Lobuche
We make a pre-dawn ascent of Kala Patthar to witness the absolute best light and unobstructed views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, and Nuptse as the sun rises. Alternative: If weather or health prevented you from hitting Base Camp yesterday, you can use this morning as a second opportunity to go there. Afterward, we gather our gear at Gorak Shep and begin our descent back down to Lobuche.
Day 14- 16: Return Trek to Lukla
We spend three days retracing our steps back down the Khumbu Valley. Thicker air makes walking easy as we pass back through Pangboche, Tengboche, and Namche Bazaar, eventually arriving back at the Lukla airstrip. Trekkers have the option to skip the 3-day walk down by flying out from Lobuche/Gorak Shep via Helicopter directly to Lukla or Kathmandu (must be booked and paid for in advance).
Day 17: Fly Lukla to Ramechhap | Drive to Kathmandu
We step onto our early morning fixed-wing flight from Lukla back to Ramechhap Airport. Upon landing, our private vehicle will be waiting to drive us back through the Nepalese countryside to Kathmandu. Check into the hotel for a hot shower and well-deserved relaxation.
Day 18: At Leisure in Kathmandu
A buffer day built in to protect against mountain flight delays, which also doubles as a fantastic rest day. Spend your day exploring the bustling capital, visiting UNESCO world heritage sites like Swayambhunath (the Monkey Temple) or Boudhanath Stupa, and exploring the markets of Thamel.
Day 19: Fly Home
Today your Himalayan adventure comes to an end. We provide a scheduled airport transfer to time with your international flight home.
