A detailed breakdown of your adventure
Day 1: Drive Pokhara to Kande | Trek to Deurali
Our journey begins with a short, scenic drive from Pokhara to the roadside ridge village of Kande. From here, we step onto the trail, starting with a steady uphill climb through terraced fields and light forest to reach Australian Camp—a famous vantage point looking out at the Annapurna range. After a brief rest, we follow a gentle, undulating path down through Pothana before making a final short incline to Deurali.
Day 2: Trek Deurali to Forest Camp (Kokar)
Leaving the main Annapurna Sanctuary trail behind, we turn off onto a quiet, undisturbed trekking path. Today’s walk is deeply immersive, leading us away from human settlements and deep into dense forests of oak, maple, hemlock, and giant rhododendron. The trail feels wonderfully isolated, tracing the spine of the ridge with occasional, teasing glimpses of the peaks through the moss-draped canopy.
Day 3: Trek Forest Camp to Low Camp
We continue our steady climb through the forest, noticing a distinct shift in vegetation as the taller trees begin to shrink into sub-alpine shrubs and juniper. The trail is short but consistently uphill, allowing your body plenty of time to adapt to the gaining altitude. Reaching Low Camp, the tree line begins to clear, revealing an incredibly sharp, imposing view of Mt. Machhapuchhre rising directly ahead.
Day 4: Trek Low Camp to High Camp
A spectacular day of walking. The trail leaves the final trees behind entirely as we ascend onto an open, grassy alpine ridgeline known as Badal Danda (Cloud Ridge). If the weather is clear, you will feel as though you are walking above the clouds, flanked by Annapurna South and Hiunchuli to your left, and Machhapuchhre to your right. We make a final, steady push up the ridge to reach High Camp, our highest overnight stop.
Day 5: Sunrise Hike to Mardi Himal Base Camp | Descend to Badal Danda / Low Camp
The grand crescendo of the trek. We wake up well before dawn (around 4:00 AM) to tackle the steep, rocky ridge path by headlamp. We reach the Mardi Himal Viewpoint (4,200m) just as the sun breaks over the horizon, turning the sheer walls of the Annapurna massif a brilliant gold. Strong, well-paced trekkers can push onward along the narrow ridge to the official Mardi Himal Base Camp (4,500m), standing directly beneath the towering shadows of Fishtail. After soaking in the $360^{\circ}$ panorama, we retrace our steps down the ridge all the way back to Low Camp.
Day 6: Trek Low Camp to Sidding Village
Instead of retracing our exact footsteps back down the ridgeline, our loop drops sharply off the side of the mountain down into the lush valley floor. The trail descends steeply through dense, green rhododendron and bamboo forests, passing isolated mountain pastures until we emerge at Sidding. This traditional, terraced Brahmin and Gurung village offers a wonderful glimpse into authentic, rural Nepalese countryside life.
Day 7: Drive Sidding back to Pokhara
After a relaxed village breakfast, we say goodbye to our trekking team and board a local four-wheel-drive vehicle. The road snakes alongside the refreshing waters of the Mardi Khola river valley, passing through small farming towns before rejoining the highway back to Pokhara. Check back into your lakeside hotel by midday, leaving you a free afternoon for a well-deserved hot shower, a relaxing lakeside massage, or a celebratory cold beverage.
