Day-by-Day Itinerary

A detailed breakdown of your adventure

Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu
Touchdown at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. You will be warmly met at the arrivals gate and transferred directly to the team hotel. Take the afternoon to rest after your flight, explore the bustling alleys of Thamel, or complete any last-minute gear shopping. In the evening, join your expedition leader for a comprehensive trip briefing.
Day 2: Drive or Fly to Pokhara
Travel from Kathmandu to the beautiful lakeside city of Pokhara. Choosing a quick morning flight rewards you with dramatic aerial views of the Langtang, Manaslu, and Annapurna ranges. Spend a relaxed afternoon strolling along the shores of Phewa Lake, enjoying the cafes, or boating under the reflection of the majestic Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) peak.
Day 3: Drive to Nayapul / Birethanti | Trek to Ulleri
A short, scenic morning drive brings us to the trailhead at Nayapul. After checking our permits at Birethanti, we begin our foot journey along the Bhurungdi Khola. The trail leads past sub-tropical forests and neatly terraced farmland before introducing the first physical test of the trek: a steep, stone-paved staircase of over 3,000 steps leading up to the village of Ulleri.
Day 4: Trek Ulleri to Ghorepani
We leave Ulleri behind on a much gentler uphill gradient, walking through enchanting, ancient oak and rhododendron forests. In the spring, these forests burst into vibrant shades of pink and crimson. We listen to the sounds of hidden waterfalls and crystal-clear streams before arriving at the mountain pass settlement of Ghorepani, which looks out toward the massive Dhaulagiri massif.
Day 5: Sunrise at Poon Hill | Trek to Tadapani
An early morning alpine start. We hike up for 45 minutes by headlamp to the summit of Poon Hill (3,210m) to witness one of the most celebrated sunrises in Asia. Watch the morning sun turn Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, and Machhapuchhre into glowing gold. We descend to Ghorepani for a warm breakfast, then trek over ridges and through deep green valleys to reach Tadapani.
Day 6: Trek Tadapani to Chhomrong
The trail starts with a steep descent through moss-draped rhododendron and oak forests, dropping into a deep valley floor. We cross a suspension bridge and begin a steady climb up the opposite side of the valley, passing through traditional Gurung farming communities. We arrive at Chhomrong, a beautiful terraced village hanging directly beneath the looming wall of Annapurna South.
Day 7: Trek Chhomrong to Bamboo / Dovan
We descend the famous stone steps of Chhomrong down to the Chhomrong Khola riverbed, cross the suspension bridge, and climb steeply back up through the village of Sinuwa. From Sinuwa, the trail enters the deep, heavily forested Modi Khola valley. We walk through dense stands of bamboo and oak before reaching our overnight clearing at Dovan.
Day 8: Trek Dovan to Machhapuchhre Base Camp (MBC)
As we trek past the Hinku Cave, the dense bamboo forests begin to fall away, giving way to high alpine scrub and rocky cliffs. The valley narrows significantly as we approach the gateway to the Sanctuary. We make a steady, mindful ascent to Machhapuchhre Base Camp (3,700m). Though no longer an active climbing camp—as the mountain is strictly sacred and forbidden to climb—the views of its sheer rock face from here are breathtaking.
Day 9: Trek MBC to Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) | Return to Bamboo
A momentous, unforgettable morning. We make a gentle, 2-hour uphill walk from MBC into the vast, snow-covered amphitheater of Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m). Standing here, you are completely surrounded by a $360^{\circ}$ barrier of some of the highest walls of rock and ice on Earth, including Annapurna I ($8,091\text{m}$), Annapurna South, and Hiunchuli. After enjoying hot tea and soaking in the views, we turn around and make a long, easy descent out of the sanctuary back down to Bamboo.
Day 10: Trek Bamboo to Jhinu Danda (Hot Springs)
We retrace our steps back down the valley trail, climbing back over Sinuwa and descending to cross the Chhomrong Khola before a final short, stiff climb back up the steps of Chhomrong. From Chhomrong, we take a steep side-trail descending down to Jhinu Danda. In the afternoon, walk down to the banks of the Modi Khola to soak your tired muscles in the natural, riverside riverside hot springs.
Day 11: Trek to Siwai / Jhinu Suspension Bridge | Drive to Pokhara
On our final day of walking, we cross the spectacular, ultra-long Jhinu suspension bridge hanging high above the valley floor. We make a gentle riverside walk to our vehicle pickup point at Siwai. From here, a private jeep or bus will drive us back through the rolling hills, delivering us to the comfort of our Pokhara hotel for a celebratory dinner by the lake.
Day 12: Fly or Drive back to Kathmandu
We take a morning flight or drive back to Kathmandu. Arriving in the capital, you have a final free afternoon for sightseeing at iconic landmarks like Boudhanath Stupa or shopping for souvenirs in Thamel. Your unforgettable Annapurna Sanctuary trek concludes with a transfer to the airport for your international departure flight.
